Evacuation of UK nationals into Beds & Luton from overseas plan

When disasters and emergencies take place abroad, UK passport holders may be affected. As a consequence the Government may help evacuate people from the area concerned.

The purpose of this plan is to manage the consequences of these major incidents, disasters, and conflicts anywhere in the world in terms of those evacuees arriving in Bedfordshire and Luton. This may result in evacuees arriving here needing welfare and support.

The plan provides details of the response by individual agencies and organisations to assist with the needs of evacuees providing support, and welfare. The plan identifies agencies and organisations that will be involved at the airport when receiving the evacuees.

In most instances the plan will be triggered by notification from the Foreign and Commonwealth office, who will provide advance notice of any evacuation or repatriation. Upon receipt of this notification the Bedfordshire and Luton Local Resilience Forum (BLLRF) will activate supporting agencies and organisations to mobilise and be ready to receive the evacuees.
