The Civil Contingencies Act (2004) requires us to produce a Community Risk Register as part of our wider work in preparing for, responding to and recovering from emergencies. The Register covers all types of hazard and all the plans and controls we have in place to protect the community of Bedfordshire and Luton; we hope you will find our comprehensive approach reassuring.
Many people have worked on the register, with over 80 contributors from a wide range of backgrounds and organisations. The last full re-assessment was carried out in October 2007, it is reviewed every 3 months by a working group.
The risk assessments in this site cover only non-malicious events (namely hazards) not threats (terrorist incidents). Our risk assessment work does cover threats, but because the information is highly sensitive and could be misused, we will not publish specific details. Threats we consider include conventional attacks using explosives, and chemical, biological, radiological and electronic attacks.

Terrorism
Always report suspicious activity
While it's important that we all go about our daily business normally, it's also sensible to remain alert to danger and to report any suspicious activity you see or hear.
Helping us keep everyone safe
To help us, you should always remain alert to the danger of terrorism and report suspicious activity:

National Risk Register tables
The Government has published a National Risk Register which sets out our assessment of the likelihood and potential impact of a range of different risks that may directly affect the UK.
The National Risk Register is designed to increase awareness of the kinds of risks the UK faces, and encourage individuals and organisations to think about their own preparedness.
